Abdeslam Belgians did not know if jihadist
brussels - Terrorist Salah Abdeslam in Belgium was primarily known as a criminal. Radicalisation of the presumably only surviving member of the group behind the attacks in Paris last year, the Belgian security service had little information.
So say the Belgians Monday in response to the French allegation that the man could escape to the border because it was not reported as a jihadist.
According to the Belgians Abdeslam was registered in March 2015 as candidate Syriëstrijder. So he came into the Schengen Information System (SIS). Which, however, mostly consulted by the police according to Belgium. 'The security forces use different information channels.'
