2100 Colombian women have zikavirus

bogota - In Colombia, more than 2100 pregnant women zikavirus. That the national health institute of the South American country reported Saturday.

The zikavirus is spread by a mosquito bite. Pregnant women are most at risk because the virus can lead to serious defects in newborns. Especially in Brazil the problem is big. Until Friday were in that country reported 3893 suspected cases. In other countries in Central and South America, the virus has become so surfaced.

The World Health Organization is Monday at an emergency meeting to determine whether the spread of the zikavirus serves as a so-called global emergency.
