200 migrants stormed British Calais ferry
- A group of two hundred refugees Saturday tried unsuccessfully to storm a British ferry in the northern French port of Calais. A group of fifty men knew the deck of the ferry Spirit of Britain by shipping company P O Ferries to achieve, but no one could penetrate into the ship. All the doors were closed as a precaution.
The attack followed a demonstration of about 2,000 people in Calais to draw attention to the living conditions of the refugees, who live in a tent camp in the dunes- nicknamed The Jungle. Some of the protesters then stormed the port area.
The wharf was closed Saturday evening to be able to catch the last refugee ship. Many gave themselves voluntarily, but that did not apply to everyone.
