paris - The film 120 BPM has won most Césars on Friday night. The drama about gay activists who fought in France in the early nineties for recognition won six prizes, including those for best film.

The race went to the last price between 120 BPM and Au Revoir Là-haut. Both films won thirteen nominations for the Césars, the French equivalent of the American Oscar. Au Revoir Là-haut won five prizes.

On the red carpet many guests appeared with a white ribbon on their clothes. In doing so, they gave support to the action #MaintenantOnAgit (We now come into action), the French response to the TimesUp movement. One of the actresses who arrived with a white ribbon was Penélope Cruz. She was honored with an oeuvre award.

The Césars are awarded annually by the Academy of Arts and Techniques du Cinéma. Last year Elle, a film by Paul Verhoeven, was one of the big winners.
