Texas executes Mexican controversial execution

In spite of international protests, Texas has executed a 47-year-old Mexican.

The Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Sada said earlier that week that the execution of convicted Rubén Ramírez Cárdenas was illegal.

Mexico has made every effort to save the death sentence for the deadly injections. For many years, the country even went to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, which equated Mexico.

Rámirez was convicted at the end of July 1998. Mexico, like lawyers of Ramirez, has argued for many years that the suspect did not have legal assistance according to the rules, and his confessions, given the circumstances of the trial, are doubtful. Also, new research into DNA traces could throw more light on the case.

In the US there are still 53 Mexicans in the dead cell.
