Large-scale sexual abuse under Sami

Norway is under the spell of years of massive sexual abuse in the village of Tysfjord, a community of Sami in Lapland.

The case started rolling last year after an investigation by the Verdens Gang newspaper. In the small, closed community above the Arctic Circle there is now a list of 82 victims, whose age varies between 4 and 75 years. Justice has already put 92 suspects in the eye, including three women. Among the raped people are three children, Norwegian media reports.

A number of cases will never reach the courtroom because some cases go back to 1953. Only two people have been charged. Their cases involve ten cases of abuse. The authorities expect considerably more things.

The population of Tysfjord consists for 70 percent of Sami, formerly known as Lappen.
