Judge demands tackling overcrowded Brussels cells

The Brussels court has condemned the Belgian state for overcrowding in the prisons of the Brussels municipalities of Vorst and Sint-Gillis.

The verdict dates from January 9 and is the result of legal action taken by the Order of French-speaking and German-speaking counters in 2015 against the overcrowded cells in the prisons of Lantin near Liège, Forest and Saint-Gilles, and Mons. Some (ex-) detainees have joined these actions.
