lincoln financial field, philadelphia - Palmeiras' Abel Ferreira supports Estêvão as he expresses nervousness about joining Chelsea, amid criticism and fan reactions. Estêvão, a promising 18-year-old winger, prepares for the Club World Cup.

Palmeiras Coach Stands by Estêvão Amid Chelsea Move

Abel Ferreira, Palmeiras' coach, defended young talent Estêvão after the player revealed feelings of anxiety ahead of his transfer to Chelsea. The 18-year-old winger, set to join Stamford Bridge next month, expressed his nerves as he prepares for the move agreed upon last June.

Estêvão's Emotional Admission

During a recent interview, Estêvão confessed to feeling 'anxiety' and 'butterflies in my stomach' as his dream of playing for Chelsea nears reality. Despite the upcoming transition, he remains focused on his current commitments with Palmeiras, including an important Club World Cup match against Botafogo this Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

Coach Ferreira's Support

Coach Ferreira addressed the criticism faced by Estêvão from fans and the media, emphasizing the normalcy of such emotions for a young player realizing his dream. Ferreira highlighted the distinction between humans and animals, emphasizing the importance of emotions in this context.

'It's normal for a boy who had a dream that's becoming a reality. It's normal that [Estêvão] feels that. He's an 18-year-old kid, he was naive to say what he said. And a lot of you [the press] slaughtered him, which is what you do to players,' Ferreira stated during a news conference.

Estêvão's Performance and Potential

Estêvão showcased his talent in Palmeiras' recent Club World Cup matches, contributing significantly with three assists. Regarded as one of South America's most promising young players, he made his debut for the Brazilian national team last September, further solidifying his potential in the football world.
