Iranian state shakers hit the Netherlands

Nine Iranians have been charged with cyber espionage in the United States.

According to the US, the nine worked for an institution in Iran called Mabna. They have since penetrated the computer systems of '144 American universities and 176 universities in 21 other countries. '

They would also have affected 47 US and foreign companies, the United Nations, a US ministry and two US states. The Netherlands is mentioned as one of the 21 countries, among others Germany, Israel, Turkey and Great Britain. The suspects would have captured data from scientific research there.

The complaint was announced on Friday. According to the United States, the nine hackers 'stole more than 31 terabytes of information' for the Revolutionary Guard, a special force of the Iranian regime.

The nine have not been arrested. 'They are now fleeing justice in America. They can no longer leave Iran without fear of arrest. They can only see the outside world through their screens, but they have lost their greatest strength: anonymity, 'according to the Public Prosecution Service in New York.
