Hurricane Lane descends on Oahu

Hurricane Lane, the toughest in 25 years that threatens to hit Hawaii, was deflected northbound on Thursday and headed for Oahu.

The meteorological service expects that there will be 500 millimeters of rain locally, accompanied by wind speeds of well over 200 kilometers per hour. 'The measures to protect and to protect well must now be completed quickly', is the warning. Besides storm damage, floods and huge waves on the south and west coast of the islands must also be taken into account.
