Hundreds of baby figurines unearthed in Ireland

Hundreds of baby figures at a former shelter for unmarried mothers in Ireland are being excavated.

There are 796 mortal remains in the graves. They are babies, born prematurely, children up to 2 or 3 years old, but also adult women. The corpses have been found in underground chambers and storage rooms that have been investigated at the complex in Tuam. This 'Mother and Baby Home' in County Galway was run by 'Bon Secours' sisters in the period 1925-1961.
