Gotthard railway tunnel attracts travelers

The world's longest railway tunnel is exactly one hundred days of operation and make an average of 8900 passengers a day use this Gotthard Base Tunnel.

This was announced by the Swiss Federal Railways, SBB, Saturday. 57 kilometers long it is between Erstfeld and Bodio the longest railway tunnel in the world. In total, according to SBB more than 10 000 wagons and carriages drove through the tunnel.

The first hundred days, there were a few teething problems. For example, a freight train was stabbing in the tunnel and there were significant delays.

Switzerland has invested in seventeen years of non-stop work and 11 billion euros.
