Elizabeth praises Philip humor in Christmas speech

British Queen Elizabeth celebrates her husband Prince Philip (96) during her annual Christmas speech, of which parts have already been released on Christmas Eve.

Philip, who has greatly reduced his public performances since this year, has always supported the Queen during the 65 years that she is on the throne. In his capacity as prince he has made 22,000 solo obligations in his life.

He never kept himself verbally and made regular news with his sometimes peppery statements. So he once insulted the Scots by asking himself: 'Can they stay sober enough for a long time to get their driver's license?'

Connoisseurs call it remarkable that the queen is going to speak about her husband. She hardly did that during her reign.

In the Christmas speech, Elizabeth will pay further attention to the lows of the year, such as the fatal attack at the Ariana Grande concert in Manchester and the fire at Grenfell Tower in London. The speech will be broadcast on Radio and TV at Christmas Day at 16:00 (Dutch time).
