Deadly attacks Mogadishu sharply higher

More than five hundred people lost their lives in October according to researchers due to the double bomb attack in Mogadishu.

A truck with explosives exploded on 14 October at a busy intersection in the Somali capital. In the area there were a hotel, government offices and restaurants. Later, another explosion occurred at another location.

The government created a commission after the attacks to gain more insight into the death toll. 'So far we have been able to determine that 512 people died in the explosion last month,' said the chairman Thursday against Reuters. 316 people would also have been injured.

The committee relies on interviews with family members of possible victims. The government has not yet responded to the upscaling of the death toll.
