British parliament is investigating Russian interference

A commission from the British parliament has asked Facebook for information about potential political ads paid by Russia-related accounts during the EU referendum in 2016 and the British elections in 2017.

The commission wants the information because of a research on fake news. In September, Facebook announced that through accounts that were likely to be maintained from Russia, thousands of political ads were spread during the US presidential elections last year.

The internet company is working with the US authorities in investigating alleged Russian interference with the American elections.
