Boy (12) loses part of leg in German amusement park

In an accident on a toboggan run in a German theme park, a 12 year old boy on Saturday afternoon has been severely injured.

Around 14.30 pm missed in Fort Fun in the Sauerland. The boy was taken to the hospital in Gelsenkirchen with a trauma helicopter. He is not in danger of life.

How the accident could happen is not known yet. 'Initially, the misconduct of the boy seemed to be the cause,' said director Andreas Sievering in German media.

However, a technical problem is not excluded. Research must show exactly what has happened.

Since the accident, the toboggan run Trapper Slider has been closed. It is one of the most famous attractions of the park. With its length of 1.3 kilometers it is Europe's longest toboggan run in an amusement park.

The Trapper Slider is regularly checked and meets all safety requirements, according to the park.
