Algerian president still rejects re-election after protest

The Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika sees after re-election following massive protests.

Algeria has demonstrated massively against the regime of the 82-year-old leader, who has been in power for 20 years and returned to Algeria after a medical treatment in Switzerland. It does not mean protesters that he, despite his fragile health, had been pushed forward to take part in the elections. Bouteflika himself also gave his fragile health and his age as a reason to forgo a new term as president.
