Algeria tries to stifle new protest

The Algerian police have been pulled out to prevent mass demonstrations against the regime of 82-year-old president Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

Protests broke out all over the country, especially on Fridays, when three weeks later it became clear that the regime still wants to maintain the Bouteflika, which has been ruling since 1999, as president. He has been put forward for re-election in April. The 82-year-old sick Bouteflika does not seem physically capable anymore.
