Sean Penn: article failed

World January 15, 2016 15:42

- Actor Sean Penn believes that his conversation with the fugitive drug trafficker Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman has had nothing to do with his eventual arrest. He does have another reason regretted the interview.

'It is suggested that our visit to Guzman was essential for his arrest by the Mexican army,' Penn said in US TV program
CBS This Morning. 'The meeting was weeks earlier, on October 2, somewhere far away from where he was eventually arrested. '
According to Penn, the Mexican government angry about the fact that someone else has found previously escaped criminal. 'But that is not so. We are not smarter than the DEA or the Mexican security forces. We had a contact who could arrange the meeting. '
He thinks that the Mexican government does prevent Penn led them to El Chapo because they want him to blame and would encourage criminals to go after him. He is not afraid for his life, he says in the interview.
Penn also explains in the interview why he wanted to make an interview with El Chapo. 'With this interview, you can launch the debate on drug policy,' he says. 'That was the simple idea behind it. '
However, that did not work, he admits. 'The whole discussion about this interview is going somewhere else. '
'We all want the drug problem stops. That stop drug murders in Chicago. We are the consumers of the drugs. Whether you now agree with me or not, there is complicity. And whether you are left or right, all our children take drugs, 'says the actor. 'And how much is now being talked about since the interview? One percent of the time? That would be a lot. No, my article has failed, 'concludes Penn.
