seoul - Suspended South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has once again failed to respond to a third summons in an investigation into the military state of emergency.

For the third time, Yoon Suk-yeol has not shown up, leading the South Korean press agency Yonhap to speculate that an arrest warrant may soon be sought. This would be an unprecedented move against a sitting president in South Korea.

Earlier this month, the president declared a military state of emergency as a measure against the opposition. The move shocked South Korean politics and society. Yoon had to rescind the measure after it was voted down by parliament. Eleven days later, parliament also passed a motion to impeach Yoon. He has since been suspended. The Constitutional Court will determine whether Yoon will actually be impeached or allowed to return as president.
