berlin, germany - Tesla CEO Musk involved in German election campaign, criticizes Chancellor Scholz, attracts attention of US politicians.

Elon Musk's Involvement in German Election Campaign

As the world's richest person, Tesla CEO and owner of X, Elon Musk, is known for his support of the controversial AfD party in German politics, which has been criticized for alleged Nazi sympathies among some members.

Musk appeared via video link at a campaign event for the party and called Chancellor Olaf Scholz an 'idiot'. The social democratic leader has openly expressed his annoyance at Musk's remarks.

Elon Musk is not the only prominent American who has attracted attention during the election campaign. AfD top candidate Alice Weidel recently met with US Vice President J.D. Vance in Munich, where Vance emphasized the importance of not excluding AfD from democratic countries.

While Weidel appreciated Vance's 'clear language', other political figures reacted with irritation to US interference in the election. Conservative opposition leader Friedrich Merz, whose CDU/CSU bloc leads in the polls, stated, 'I will not let any American vice president dictate who I can talk to here in Germany'.
