kosovo - Kosovo's Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, announced the closure of all 'parallel Serbian institutions' operating in the country, emphasizing the commitment to uphold the rule of law.

Kosovo's Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, disclosed the closure of all 'parallel Serbian institutions' offices in the country, stating that they will not allow any parallel or criminal structures belonging to Serbia that violate the country's constitution and rule of law. The recent operation included shutting down parallel municipal offices as well as illegal post and tax authorities in various regions such as Pristina, Lipjan, Obiliq, Kosovo Polje, Vushtrri, Novo Brdo, Kamenica, Rahovec, Vitina, and Skenderaj.

Kosovo has previously closed many Serbian institutions, particularly in the northern region of the country. Tensions have been rising between Kosovo and Serbia on various issues in recent times, raising concerns about a potential escalation in the two countries' relations. Serbia does not recognize Kosovo, which unilaterally declared independence in 2008, viewing it as part of its territory. The Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue Process initiated under the EU mediation in 2011 aims to normalize relations and eventually find a common path for mutual recognition.
