washington - The US Justice Department is not willing to grant a delay on the proposed TikTok ban, while President-elect Donald Trump has requested a postponement and claims he can strike a deal with China.

The US Justice Department is currently not complying with the wishes of the incoming Republican president. Trump's party members have previously expressed concerns about ByteDance, fearing unwanted Chinese influence and access to data of tens of millions of Americans. TikTok has an estimated 170 million users in the US, including many children and youngsters.

If ByteDance does not take action in the coming weeks and does not divest from Chinese hands, the controversial video app will be blocked. The Supreme Court will hear the case on January 10.

Donald Trump has stated that he is against the ban and claims he can negotiate a deal with China on the issue.
