Sessions recalls controversial meeting

The US Secretary of State Jeff Sessions (Justice) can recall a meeting in which a campaign employee spoke about his Russian connections.

The March 2016 meeting is again under a magnifying glass because the minister stated earlier that he was not aware of contacts between campaigners and the Russians. Later that adviser, George Papadopoulos, found out during the meeting that he could help through his contacts in meeting a meeting between President Putin and Donald Trump.

At that meeting there were also Sessions at the time. He would allegedly have rebounded Papadopoulos. 'I think I wanted to make him clear that he was not authorized to represent the campaign in front of the Russian government,' Sessions said on Tuesday.
