Restart nuclear reactor Tihange month delayed

The restart of the Belgian reactor Tihange 1 has been postponed again.

The restart has been postponed several times. The repairs to a building in the non-nuclear part of the plant last longer than previously thought. In September the reactor, which is located southwest of Maastricht, some 50 kilometers, shut down after a building where auxiliary pumps stand was damaged.

Before the restart will take place FANC (Agency for Nuclear Control) that there are tests and studies are done, the Belgian newspaper Le Soir reported last weekend. The Agency reviewed the report in which the operator indicated to resume power production in late February as insufficient, the newspaper said.
