German border guards at Christmas market killer

Germany has put anti-terror units at the now-guarded border with France.

The German daily Bild reports this on the basis of sources from German and French security services. The 29-year-old Cherif Chekatt also lived in Germany for quite some time, but was deported after he had been given a prison sentence of more than two years for a few robberies and a heavy assault, which he did not fully exhaust. He was considered a danger to society and therefore deported to France.
