For 69 million euros to hear Big Ben at Christmas

Christmas will not be a quiet night for the Big Ben in London.

The restoration of the Big Ben started in August and is expected to last four years. The British House of Commons estimates that the repair costs increase to GBP 61 million (over 69 million euros). This means that the repair costs twice as much as it was budgeted.

Big Ben is actually the name for the heaviest of the five clocks in the 96-meter-high Elizabeth Tower, which is on the Thames. In general, the whole tower is called so.
