Bulgaria is going to renovate rickety bridges

Bulgaria is accelerating the renovation of 211 rickety bridges as a result of the disaster in Genoa.

Nankov said that it involves, among other things, 34 highway bridges, half of which are 'in poor condition'. Prime Minister Boiko Borisov instructed the responsible minister to come up with a plan of action and immediately include the renewal of worn bridges from the communist era.

The poorest EU country, which is enjoying a growing interest from tourists, has refurbished seven bridges on major routes in 2017. This year, recovery work is underway at five locations.
