Beijing installs more than 110,000 charging stations

The Chinese capital Beijing has installed 112,600 charging stations for electric cars in the city from the end of November.

When drivers of electric vehicles enter the sixth ring of the city, they can find a charging point within a radius of 5 kilometers. It takes about an hour to charge a car and it costs less than 40 yuan (about 5 euros).

The city has also created an app where information can be found about the charging stations and with which mobile payments can be made.

In the context of China's thirteenth five-year plan (2016-2020), the country is building a nationwide network of charging stations to meet the demand to recharge five million electric vehicles by 2020.
