Australia builds longest anti-cat fence

An Australian nature reserve has built the longest anti-cat fence in the world to protect endangered species.

'There are some fifty to sixty cats in this area alone, and they eat more than 70,000 animals a year,' said the head of the AWC animal welfare organization. Park rangers want to wipe out all predators this year, making Newhaven Wildlife Sanctuary the largest cat-free area in Australia. In 2019, a number of endangered species will be reintroduced.

The project is part of a larger project to reintroduce indigenous species. The fence is one of the most important animal protection projects in Australian history.
