Armenian Prime Minister resigns: Power back with people

The Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pasjinjan announced on Tuesday that he will step down to make early parliamentary elections possible.

Since the revolution this spring, however, Armenian voters have not yet been heard. Pasjinjan is of the opinion that the parliament is currently not reflective of the new political reality.

'The purpose of my dismissal request is not to run away from the responsibility you have given me. On the contrary, I want to complete the velvet revolution by giving new elections and full power back to the people. '

Pasjinjan is popular with the three million Armenians. He will remain in office as prime minister for the time being until a new parliament is elected. That probably happens in the first half of December.
