washington - The US House of Representatives passed legislation on government spending hours before a potential shutdown. The bill did not include President Trump's request to raise the debt limit.

The Democrats and Republicans in the US House of Representatives approved legislation on government spending, averting a looming shutdown. President Trump's demand to increase the US debt limit did not make it through.

The House voted 366-34 in favor of the bill. The Democrat-controlled Senate has until midnight local time to approve the package before parts of the government would have to shut down. President Joe Biden has expressed support for the package.

The legislation ensures government funding until March 14 and provides assistance to disaster victims and American farmers. Donald Trump wants his country's debt limit raised, but lawmakers, including 38 Republicans, do not agree with him.
