wolverhampton - Two 13-year-old boys in the UK have been sentenced to 8.5 years in detention for the murder of a 19-year-old man. This marks one of the youngest murder convictions in the country since 1993.

Two boys, aged 13, were sentenced to 8.5 years in detention in the UK for the murder of 19-year-old Shawn Seesahai. The boys fatally stabbed him in a park in Wolverhampton, a suburb of Birmingham, last November. Authorities stated that the boys did not know each other, but targeted Seesahai after he asked them to vacate a bench.

During the sentencing, the judge addressed the boys, saying, 'When you killed Shawn, he was only 19, at the start of his adult life, with everything to live for. His parents lost their son. His sister lost her brother.'

Reports indicate that these two boys are the youngest individuals convicted of murder in the UK since 1993, when the nation was shaken by the murder of toddler James Bulger, who was under 3 years old. The two perpetrators were 11 years old at the time and served 8 years in detention.
