kalmthout - A 67-year-old British man was found dead in a vicarage in Kalmthout, Belgium, with traces of amphetamines and MDMA in his urine. A 59-year-old priest from the same town has been arrested pending autopsy.

A 67-year-old British man was discovered dead in a vicarage in Kalmthout, Belgium, with traces of amphetamines and MDMA in his urine. Authorities have confirmed the involvement of a 59-year-old priest from Kalmthout, who called emergency services shortly after midnight. The deceased individual, a British national, was a friend of the arrested priest and was visiting him at the time of the incident. The judicial laboratory and investigators were deployed to the site for further examination.

Following the interrogation of the Kalmthout priest, it was decided to arrest him pending clarification of the cause of death. Initial urine tests indicated the presence of amphetamines and MDMA, potentially linked to the drug XTC. The origin of the drugs will be determined through the ongoing investigation.

The Antwerp Public Prosecutor's Office has appointed an investigating judge to oversee the case, focusing on drug trafficking leading to death. The autopsy is expected to take place on Saturday.
