washington - Journalists from AP barred from Oval Office and Air Force One for refusing to use 'Gulf of America' name.

Journalists Banned by Trump Administration

Reporters from AP are indefinitely banned from press events at the White House and Air Force One due to their refusal to adopt the name 'Gulf of America' over 'Gulf of Mexico'.

This week, AP reporters were excluded from press moments with President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk in the Oval Office, as well as a press conference with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

AP's Editor-in-Chief, Julie Pace, condemned the ban as 'unacceptable' and 'contrary to the constitution', citing the importance of press freedom. She highlighted the alarming nature of the White House punishing AP for independent reporting.

President Trump signed an executive order shortly after inauguration to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. AP's refusal is based on the historic usage of the name and its global audience, emphasizing that Trump's decision is limited to the United States.

While Google Maps and Apple Maps have adopted the 'Gulf of America' name, AP stands by the traditional 'Gulf of Mexico' title.
