Saudi Arabia Clarifies: No World Cup Stadium on Skyscraper for 2034 FIFA World Cup

Saudi Arabia has refuted social media rumors about a World Cup stadium on a skyscraper for the 2034 FIFA World Cup, clarifying plans for a 46,000-seater NEOM Stadium in The Line smart city project.

Viral Misconception

A viral video circulating on social media depicted a soccer stadium atop a skyscraper, claiming it as a venue for the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia. However, officials have confirmed this to be a work of science fiction.

Official Plans for NEOM Stadium

The actual NEOM Stadium, set to be 350 meters above the ground, is part of The Line project in NEOM. This 46,000-capacity stadium is a key venue for the FIFA 2034 World Cup, with construction scheduled to start in 2027 and finish in 2032.

The Line Project Details

The NEOM Stadium will be a central feature of The Line, a green and smart city initiative powered by renewable energy. The project aims to extend over 100 miles by 2045, offering a unique and sustainable urban environment.

Despite the excitement stirred by the viral video, the real NEOM Stadium is part of a comprehensive plan for a sports-focused neighborhood within The Line's cityscape, including various amenities like hotels, apartments, and transport systems.

Addressing Concerns

While the stadium's height raises questions about safety and practicality, the design integrates it within a multi-level megastructure, ensuring a secure environment for spectators. The project represents a bold vision for urban development and sustainable infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
