- Recent developments in the spy crisis between Russia and the UK have led to diplomatic tensions, resulting in the expulsion of diplomats.

Russia-UK Spy Crisis: Diplomatic Tensions Rise

The UK Foreign Office announced the expulsion of a Russian diplomat in response to Russia's action against a British diplomat. The decision comes amid escalating tensions between the two countries.

According to reports, the Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin was summoned by a senior UK official to discuss the cancellation of accreditation of an unnamed Russian diplomat. The UK Foreign Office spokesperson stated that the expulsion was a retaliatory measure following Russia's unjustified expulsion of a British diplomat in Moscow last November.

The spokesperson emphasized that the UK will not tolerate intimidation of its personnel and will respond accordingly to any escalatory steps taken by Russia. This latest development comes after the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) decided to expel British diplomat Wilkes Pryor, who was working at the British Embassy in November 2024.

The FSB cited Pryor's deliberate provision of false information upon entering the Russian Federation as the reason for his expulsion, giving him two weeks to leave the country.
