stuttgart - Nearly twenty attendees of the opera performance Sancta in Stuttgart were shocked by bloody sex scenes in the show. Learn more on telegraaf.nl

Nearly twenty attendees felt nauseous and even went into shock due to the performance Sancta by choreographer Florentina Holzinger (38). The Austrian artist provocatively portrays lesbian love scenes supported by opera singing in the show. In addition, Christian rituals are ridiculed and the sexual suppression of women is criticized.

But that's not all. Besides depictions of sexual violence, real blood, piercings, and injuries can also be seen. This was warned on the website of the Stuttgart Opera House, where the performance is recommended mostly for audiences 'daringly seeking new theater experiences'. Due to the sexual violence in the show, it is also cautioned that it can evoke traumatic experiences.

Despite the shocked reactions among the audience, there are no plans to make changes to Sancta. According to a spokesperson for the Opera House, nausea and fainting are not uncommon during shows, and the premiere of this specific performance was mainly praised. The spokesman also states that most attendees were people who 'knew what they were getting into'.
