valencia - Several fatalities have been found as a result of severe weather in Spain, according to local officials.

Carlos Mazón, president of the Valencia autonomous community, reported the discovery of 'lifeless bodies' by rescue teams in the Valencia region.

The exact number of victims remains unclear. 'Out of respect for the families involved, we will not disclose further information,' Mazón stated on Wednesday night.

Spain has been ravaged by severe weather since Tuesday, leading to intense flooding and multiple individuals reported missing.

Rescue teams were searching for six individuals who went missing in Letur, a municipality in southeastern Spain. Additionally, local police in L’Alcúdia, near Valencia in the east of the country, were looking for a truck driver.

The Spanish meteorological agency, AEMET, has declared a red weather alert for the Valencia region. Valencia City Council announced the suspension of all schools, sports events, and closure of parks on Wednesday.

In Andalucía, southern Spain, a high-speed train with 276 passengers derailed. Fortunately, regional authorities confirmed no injuries. Dozens of people were rescued in the village of Álora after a river overflowed. Several flights and trains have been suspended.
