tabriz, iran - Iranian President Pezeshkian warned by officials for reciting Turkish poetry at a cultural event in Tabriz.

Iranian President Warned for Reciting Turkish Poetry

During the closing ceremony of Tabriz Cultural Week, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian was warned by officials for reciting Turkish poetry by the famous Turkish poet Shahriar. Pezeshkian, intending to recite two lines by Shahriar, faced opposition due to the presence of non-Turkish speakers in the audience. Despite the warning, Pezeshkian went on to recite lines from the poem 'Greetings to Heydar Baba' in Azerbaijani Turkish. This incident echoed a similar event in 2006 when former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recited Shahriar's poem in Azerbaijani Turkish during his visit to Tabriz.
