- Instagram users report disturbing and violent videos appearing on their feeds, causing shock and trauma.

Instagram Users Exposed to Violent Content

Since Wednesday afternoon, Instagram users have been encountering a wave of violent and shocking videos on their feeds. Users describe seeing gunshots, blood, births, random fatal accidents, murders, sex, deep-sea creatures, and other disturbing content. One user expressed, 'Sorry for the explicit words, but believe me, I have seen it all. It is traumatizing.'

Many online users on platforms like Reddit and X have echoed similar experiences. One user shared, 'I just saw someone picking up their own arm after it was chopped off by a machete.'

Typically, the app's algorithm shows users videos based on their previous interests or profile. However, the surge in reports from Instagram users suggests a potential error. Meta, the parent company of Instagram, Facebook, and Whatsapp, has yet to address the issue.

Most of these videos are initially blurred with a warning of 'sensitive content.' Only upon clicking to view do users encounter the actual graphic content.
