krefeld - German police shot a man in a cinema after he had set fires in three places, according to reports. The man was seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

The incident took place in Krefeld, about 25 kilometers from Venlo. The man reportedly first threw an incendiary device in a building belonging to the labor service. He then set a parked car on fire and fled to the cinema. Another fire broke out in a building on the way, and the police suspect the man was also responsible for that.

At the cinema, two police officers shot at him, hitting him with at least one bullet. The man's motive remains unclear, but police told the Rheinische Post that he was probably not intending to carry out an attack.
