greifswald - Christian Lindner, the former German Finance Minister, was seemingly hit in the face with shaving foam during an election appearance for his liberal FDP party in northeastern Germany.

Christian Lindner, the former German Finance Minister, was seemingly hit in the face with shaving foam during an election appearance for his liberal FDP party in northeastern Germany.

Videos on social media, including Lindner's own account, show Lindner being approached from behind by a woman with the shaving foam. Lindner then throws some of the shaving foam back at the woman, who is tackled to the ground by security guards.

Lindner quickly reassured the audience that they "don't need to worry." "Unfortunately, it wasn't cream, just soap," the politician joked. "They could have done a better job at least, then I would have benefited from it." He then continued with his speech and the plans for the rest of his day. A party spokesperson condemned the incident as an unacceptable attack.

In Germany, early elections will be held next month due to the collapse of the government. The coalition consisted of the Social Democrats (SPD), the Greens, and the FDP. The FDP party withdrew from the government after Lindner was dismissed by Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The two had been at odds for months over the budget.
