paris, france - Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is facing trial over allegations of illegal financing from the former leader of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi.

Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy is set to stand trial for the Libya Case, where he is accused of making an illegal financial agreement with the Libyan government during his presidential campaign in 2007. The trial is expected to last approximately 3 months and if found guilty, Sarkozy could face up to 10 years in prison.

Nicolas Sarkozy, who served as the President of France from 2007 to 2012, has denied all allegations against him. This case comes after Sarkozy was sentenced to one year of house arrest with an electronic tag in a previous corruption trial.

The investigation into the Libya Case began over a decade ago and has led to the accusation of Sarkozy and 12 others for alleged corruption involving the Libyan regime under Gaddafi. The trial is set to take place at the Paris Criminal Court.
