new york - President-elect Donald Trump is set to receive a sentence in the hush money case brought against him just ten days before his inauguration in Washington on January 10th.

The court announced the scheduled sentencing this Friday. Trump had previously attempted to have the case dismissed citing his election victory, but the judge ruled against him.

Trump has already been found guilty by a jury, but the judge has yet to determine the sentence. The judge hinted that he is unlikely to impose a prison sentence. Whether the session on January 10th will actually take place remains uncertain. Lawyers representing the incoming president have stated their intention to appeal such a decision.

Trump is not required to be physically present in the New York courtroom, he may also attend the hearing online. In the case, the Republican Trump is accused of using campaign funds to silence former model and porn star Stormy Daniels. She allegedly received $100,000 to keep quiet about her sexual encounters with the married Trump, but the businessman's records reportedly inaccurately accounted for that amount.
