Borussia Dortmund Announces Jamie Gittens' Transfer to Chelsea

Borussia Dortmund has confirmed the transfer of English winger Jamie Gittens to Chelsea in a deal worth £55 million. Gittens, who joined Dortmund as a youth player in 2020 from Manchester City, has made 107 appearances for the German side, scoring 17 goals.

Key Details of the Transfer

The 20-year-old is set to sign a seven-year contract with Chelsea, as reported by ESPN sources. The agreement was reached during the Club World Cup in the United States, with both clubs at the quarterfinal stage.

Gittens' Career Progression

Gittens' career at Dortmund has been commendable, with a standout season last year where he scored 12 goals in 48 games, including four in the Champions League. Dortmund's managing director, Lars Ricken, praised Gittens' development and performance, highlighting his journey from the youth academy to the first team.

Chelsea's Strategic Signings

Chelsea's acquisition of Gittens is part of their effort to strengthen the left wing, following the decision not to retain Jadon Sancho. Gittens joins other summer signings like Liam Delap and João Pedro at the Premier League club.
