washington - President Trump bans federal diversity and inclusion programs, sparking debate on identity politics.

President Trump vs. Woke Policies

In his first week as president, Donald Trump targeted the government's identity policies. He signed a decree banning federal diversity and inclusion programs, arguing that institutions had been poisoned by identity politics promoting dangerous and divisive preferences based on race and gender. The move comes as a response to the growing influence of woke culture in American institutions, where emphasis shifted from equal opportunities to equal outcomes.

Trump's decision led to the shutdown of the DEI division website at USAID and the suspension of DEI officials. The president aims to restore competence as the guiding principle in government affairs, prohibiting the recruitment, promotion, and selection of employees based on race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. This decision marks a significant shift in the ongoing culture war, with Trump urging a return to merit-based practices.

While the ban on DEI programs at the federal level is seen as a victory by some, concerns remain about the potential underground continuation of woke initiatives. Trump calls on employees to report any attempts to maintain diversity programs under different guises, threatening consequences for non-compliance.
