batman, turkey - Contracts of 112 individuals have been terminated at Batman Municipality due to unlawful recruitment practices.

Unlawful Recruitment at Batman Municipality

112 individuals who were recently hired at companies under Batman Municipality have had their contracts terminated on the grounds of unlawfulness. Following a mandate by the Ministry of Interior on November 4, 2024, it was revealed that irregularities occurred in the recruitment processes of 112 individuals.

It was stated that 192 individuals were hired at Batman Municipality Personnel Inc. and Bel-kent Inc. at different times since the local elections on March 31, 2024. The statement mentioned that in the recruitment processes of the aforementioned 192 individuals, it was found that the provisions of the Regulation on the Procedures and Principles to be Applied in the Employment of Workers in Public Institutions and Organizations were not followed. It was understood that personnel recruitment announcements were made to the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) without compliance with the regulations, and fake job postings were made for 121 individuals. Subsequently, 113 individuals were employed at Personnel Inc. and 79 individuals were employed at Bel-kent Inc. without even announcing the job openings.

The statement also revealed that individuals were employed without the necessary security and archive research being conducted, in violation of the Regulations on the Principles and Procedures regarding the Employment of Personnel to Perform Services Based on the Employment of Personnel by Provincial Special Administrations, Municipalities, and Affiliated Institutions and Local Administration Unions.

It was further noted that among the hired personnel, individuals with criminal records related to terrorism, sexual harassment, distribution of obscene publications involving children, drug trafficking, corruption in tenders, theft, and other crimes were identified. Due to the irregularities detected in the recruitment processes, the contracts of a total of 112 individuals at Personnel Inc. and Bel-kent Inc. have been terminated.
