Pension demonstration Belgium attracts 25,000 people

A national demonstration in Brussels against pension reforms by the Belgian government has drawn 25,000 demonstrators to the capital, according to the police.

According to the trade unions, pensions are threatening to go down to 300 euros per month. The measures would dupe tens of thousands of people.

Prime Minister Charles Michel calls the allegations as 'lies and fake news. '' The government will make more efforts to explain to the population what we have decided, so people are no longer worried ', he told the VRT.

'Our calculations are solid,' said ACV leader Marc Leemans.

Because participants in the demonstration did not appear at work, services in several cities are at a lower level. Bus traffic, among other things, has been significantly disrupted.
