seoul - South Korean prosecutors have charged ex-President Moon Jae-in with corruption for allegedly facilitating his son-in-law's top job at an airline without relevant experience.

Former South Korean President Moon Accused of Corruption

Former South Korean President Moon Jae-in, 72, is facing corruption charges for allegedly receiving 217 million won (approximately 134,000 euros) to secure a top position for his son-in-law at an airline.

Nepotism Allegations

Moon's son-in-law was appointed as the CEO of budget carrier Thai Eastar Jet, despite lacking any relevant experience in the aviation industry, according to prosecutors.

The airline, reportedly influenced by a former lawmaker from Moon's party, offered the position in a bid to gain favors from the then-president. Moon served as president from 2017 to 2022.
